I am separated from my husband. We are in the process of filing for dissolution. Per our agreement he got to keep the car that was financed in both our names. He is now in financial trouble and I fear the car will be reposessed before the dissolution is final and w/o me getting my name off the loan. What recourse do i have here? I have spent a fair amount of time since the separation getting my credit in good standing as an individual and I am really stressing about this hurting what I have worked so hard for. Anyone?

My brand new car was totaled by someone who ran a red light. It is two weeks old, and my first payment on the car loan isn’t until June. What happens with the loan?

Are there cons to buying a new car without taking out a loan?

I am thinking of buying a new car in the next year or two (because it looks like repairs will soon cost more than the trade in value of my car). Because I hope to have a condo by then, I don’t want to have both a mortgage and a car loan.

I would be able to pay for the car without taking out a loan, but I have several questions:

1.Is there any reason this would not be a good idea?

2. Would they need to do a credit check still, or special background checks?

3. Would it be better to just put a large downpayment and get
a smaller loan (which I could try to pay off sooner)?

Of course I would make sure to have enough for emergencies afterwards.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

How will paying for a car loan on a repo car affect my credit score?

My husband and I signed a $20,000 loan on a truck. The payments were behind and the car was in a wreck. The truck was repossessed and the loan company says we still owe $8000. The loan company offered a settlement of $2800 if we pay by the end of the month. Does this sound right to anyone?
How would it really affect my credit if I pay off the loan now?

Considering a trade-in value of about $10,000, the remaining balance of the loan from GMAC will be about $3,000. Can this be rolled into a Toyota Financial Services car loan?

I would like to buy a eclipse for $6500 and currently only have $2000 in cash. I would like to be able to build some credit and could easily pay the car off in under 6 months. The main thing is that I don’t want to have to have comprehensive insurance on my vehicle while its on the loan cause the price of my insurance will go up $250 making outrageous in my mind. All help welcome thanks!
