How does declaring Bankruptcy effect my current credit rating?
January 30, 2008 by blog100 · 4 Comments
I know that once you declare bankruptcy you can’t file again for another 7 years, but how does filing affect my overall credit rating? Do already paid off credit cards in my name remain valid or are those accounts closed?

What to do with unsolicited credit cards?
January 26, 2008 by blog100 · 4 Comments
I have good credit & I trust NO ONE with my personal information. My g/f on the other hand is rather stupid. She’ll give out anything to anyone. I tried to help her cerdit out by putting her on one of my cards; the one with the lower limit. Now she gets these unsolicited cards & they bill her for them even if she dont use them. Then when you call to cancel they keep u on hold till you hang up. Is there a way out of this for her?

How do I stop receiving offers for new credit cards through the mail?
January 24, 2008 by blog100 · 3 Comments
I just ripped up ten new offers for credit cards. I get at least one every few days and I’m tired of it. How do I make them stop?
On a related note, how do I get the companies that I actually hold a credit card with to stop sending me blank checks that I can fill out to draw cash from my account? No thanks, I don’t need the high interest rates! I get those every few days too.
The checks aren’t with my statements…well OK I do get blank checks with my statements. But I also get mail from my credit card companies with just the checks and a letter that basically comes to, “HI WE DON’T MAKE ENOUGH $$ FROM YOU, DO SOMETHING STUPID AND USE THESE CHECKS PLS KTHXBAI.”
I **** them. I guess I should just call the companies but every time I do they just try to sell me insurance and other stuff because I don’t carry a balance and they want my money.

What do you think about filing bankruptcy?
January 23, 2008 by blog100 · 3 Comments
I’ve known a couple people who have filed bankruptcy and I think they use it as an easy cop out, because they don’t want to have bills.
Two of my friends have put all their assets in their parents names, filed, and then get to keep their stuff.
I would be more concerned about the bad mark it leaves on my credit score. What are you thoughts on it?
Would you ever file bankruptcy? Why or why not?
If you have, [and don't mind sharing] how much debt did you eliminate?

How can I know if my business credit cards are personally guaranteed?
January 22, 2008 by blog100 · 2 Comments
Hello,
How can I know if my business credit cards are personally guaranteed? I don’t have copies of the original applications and I don’t want to call the cards to ask (because it may impact me negatively). Is there something in the Terms & Conditions of the cards that I should look for?

Can you repair your own bad credit?
January 22, 2008 by blog100 · 3 Comments
I have recently researched information on repairing bad credit after bankruptcy, etc. It appears that items, whether true or false can legally be disputed from yourself as frequent as every 30 days. And, unless the credit bureau agencies can provide valid proof (from the original creditors) within a 30 day period, they must remove the derogatory credit from your file. Although it can take 2 – 3 times of writing dispute letters to actually get a response, this seems very interesting. It also appears that the FCRA is really in the consumers favor, but not really advertised to us because the 3 major bureaus profit from our credit history. Any experience/advice on someone cleaning up their own bad credit (not through credit repair scams)?

Why did Obama just say we should invest 50 BILLION MORE $$ into the economy?
January 20, 2008 by blog100 · 5 Comments
Is it smart, or one of the stupidist things a politicain has ever suggested.
Trillions of $$ debt and all Obama can think about is more $$ being thrown away!

Will applying for car loans with multiple lenders hurt my chances of getting a loan?
January 18, 2008 by blog100 · 6 Comments
I’m fresh out of college and in need of a new car. I’m shopping for rates – filled out a credit application with the dealer, and a couple online. One of the lenders I applied with online wrote at the bottom of an email to “be sure not to apply in multiple places as it would hurt my credit score and negatively affect my chances of getting a loan!”
Is this true?! If so, how am I supposed to compare rates?

How do I get rid of credit cards without hurting my credit?
January 17, 2008 by blog100 · 8 Comments
I have no credit card debt but a few credit cards that are open I never intend on using. Is there any way I can close these accounts without hurting my credit? I do not like the idea of having open credit card accounts, for fear of theft of these numbers.
