I want to trade in my 2006 VW Jetta for a 2006 BMW 330i. KBB on my Jetta is around $10-12k, so I would just trade it in and finance the remainder of the BMW which would be about $20-22k. I’ve only begun using credit to build my credit score over the past 8 months, but what I do have is decent. How difficult would it be right now to finance $8-10k for a car loan?

Not so sure if we’re actually going to have to file for bankruptcy or not, but my husband and I have talked about it before. I know vaguely what it is, and vaguely what it will do, but I’m not clear on all the details. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Yes, this question made me very angry too ***.

My friend has a large financial obligation that she does not feel she has the resources to ever settle this debt. She is considering bankruptcy to eliminate this and other bills.

Can she put this in her bankruptcy, or is it one that has to be paid?

Great answers everyone, it helps to know not everyone believes the magic eraser fairy can take it all away:)
All answers were wonderful, and of my same mindset. I chose Uwishuk because she is a claims adjuster. Thanks everyone.

For almost two years, I paid a company to repair my credit. When I started my FICO score was 625 but I knew it was a matter of time before it became lower because of late payments. Now my FICO score is 500, I stopped paying the consold. company and have been told that I can’t use another one for at least a year.

How can one use their credit cards to invest without the investment qualifying as a cash advance?

Everybody knows using a credit card at the ATM or bank will qualify the transaction as a cash advance and cash advances carry a rather high rate. However today I heard a bit on the news;how to make money off of the credit card companies rather than them making it off of you. It featured some investment guru who talked about using available balances on credit cards for investments that have a higher rate of return than the credit card carries. I have a 0% until July 2007 with plenty to invest if I decided to do this, but how would I avoid the cash advance rate if it would be regarded as cash? Are there any investments that would list the transaction as a purchase? Please help, I am confused.

How do you get a car loan if you have no credit, but bad credit?

One of the things car dealers look for is established credit, if you do not have it they offer the first time buyers package.

Only I don’t qualify because even though I have no credit, I do have bad credit because of a Verizon phone/Net bill and a medical bill. Now paying these off is a step in the right direction but it’s not going to help right now in concerns to getting a loan.

Normally I’d be like ***** it and get a used private one, only I went through two of them in the past year hurting my self in the process.

Is there ANYTHING I can do?

Thank you for your interest in DriveTime. Based on the information you provided on your application, we can’t currently offer you a DriveTime auto loan. Although we approve more than 95 percent of all applicants, one or more of your responses on our application form indicate that you are not currently an ideal candidate for DriveTime financing:

See what I’m saying, they make a bad situation worse, I have a full time job that pays close to 20 grand a year, so they lie when they say credit isn’t a problem.

How can I repair my credit?

I ruined my credit in college and as a result I have about $10,000 in debt. Most of the accounts are in collections, charge offs, or past due. The only thing positive on the report are my student loans and my car loan. I have heard of disputing the reports, but I also want to find a credit repair firm that will allow me to make payment arrangements. I want to improve my credit rating so that I can purchase a home in a few years, get approved for more credit cards and also get a new car.
